"As Above, So Below"

"As Above, So Below" has taken elements of my paintings and reimagined them in a 3-dimensional space. These elements are crafted from vines, waterproof cements, and various natural recycled/repurposed fibers, filled with plastic bags and natural fibers, creating sea and or woodland creatures such as raven, fish, beaver, toad, sparrow, moths, trees, fey folk, octopus, lotus, sea horse, etc. Prisms adorn the aerial spaces, casting tiny rainbows. “As Above, So Below” reimagines that there are problems to solve, evolve, and grow from. I wanted this project to be a magical space with a touch of whimsy. Thought out characters weaving a fantasy…a tale…a yarn...for passersby to sit, imagine, and co-create with me their own fables and lore. Things are hidden in plain sight or tucked behind trees, rocks, and brush. I wanted to create a space for people to be watchful of the living creatures who leave clues that they are around and to be gentle if they are found. I love the idea of the new year, springtime celebrations, new beginnings, and reimaging your everyday. To reinvent, set goals, bring gratitude to our daily lives, and Hell! to wallow in the low parts knowing that there are always lighter days and that all has ebbs and flows. We must remember to take care of one another in the lows and celebrate in the highs.
